One Year Hence

It has now been one year since being widowed and the pain is still just as real now as it was then. It’s really almost an impossible task to be able to separate the past from the present. My daughter is healthy and thriving and I am thankful for that. I hope one day I too can be at peace with everything. Looking back now, I could have done more in multiple areas of my relationship. I’m not a religious person, but I sometimes reflect on the Story of Job and the loss of his family. I wonder sometimes what did I do to deserve this? I still feel like I’m on on uneven ground, like the earth is shifting from under me. Hopefully, that will resolve itself over time after much contemplation.

On a good note:

My daughter is now 1 year of age and doing so well. I’m proud of her. Also, I’ve accelerated some of my own learnings and achieved a Google Cloud certification.

Update on Life

A lot has happened since establishing this website. The major event has been that I lost my wife on August 27th, 2021 due to complications with LAM and pregnancy. Words cannot describe the pain that I have been in since that fateful day. I was there in the hospital when she decompensated, lost her ability to breathe on her own and was ventilated until they said they could do no more for her. I play these events in my head all the time. I hope one day I can be at peace with them, but not yet. The good news is my daughter survived and is very healthy and loving. She reminds me of Laura, my late wife. I have been thrown now into single fatherhood, with no other passengers on the boat to look for help from. I’m rowing this boat myself, one row at a time and one push of momentum at a time. I won’t lie, my life has been devastated since the loss of my wife, but I keep pushing on for our daughter, Kyla. May Laura be in a better place.

Coronavirus - Update

As most of you know, unless you have been living under a rock, Coronavirus SARS-COV has rocked the world, in particular the human world. I will not spend too much time on this since there are plenty of other outlets to obtain information on the “what to do” topic. I want to focus more on the origins of the virus itself. In this case, the virus, as we know, came from Wuhan, China and roughly started in December 2019. The rest is a mystery. Some say it came from a “wet market” where live animals and humans congregate or commingle in a confined area. This appears to be the most likely case. The real question I want to leave the audience with is why now? We have had a number of viruses come out of the old world, in particular, the Asiatic region what seems to be over a short time frame. For example, H1N1 is a prime example in 2009. Take a look at this article here that ties deforestation with a likelihood of increasing the chance for deadly diseases to spread - National Geographic

What I would like for the audience to consider is what role should we play in limiting deforestation for the sake of disease containment? I am concerned that the destruction of the planet has lead the moment we now face. Only time will tell if we learn from it this time… In any case, be safe, be prudent, and will be back soon.

Starting Bell

Welcome weary travelers, this is my first post on this site. I’m not sure how often I will be posting just yet as I have a lot to do to make this site something of interest. My thoughts are going to range from the philosophical, to news, to gaming, to science, and finally to some personal items, I’m sure. Hope to see more of you, if you have any questions, use the Connect navigation above.
