Coronavirus - Update

As most of you know, unless you have been living under a rock, Coronavirus SARS-COV has rocked the world, in particular the human world. I will not spend too much time on this since there are plenty of other outlets to obtain information on the “what to do” topic. I want to focus more on the origins of the virus itself. In this case, the virus, as we know, came from Wuhan, China and roughly started in December 2019. The rest is a mystery. Some say it came from a “wet market” where live animals and humans congregate or commingle in a confined area. This appears to be the most likely case. The real question I want to leave the audience with is why now? We have had a number of viruses come out of the old world, in particular, the Asiatic region what seems to be over a short time frame. For example, H1N1 is a prime example in 2009. Take a look at this article here that ties deforestation with a likelihood of increasing the chance for deadly diseases to spread - National Geographic

What I would like for the audience to consider is what role should we play in limiting deforestation for the sake of disease containment? I am concerned that the destruction of the planet has lead the moment we now face. Only time will tell if we learn from it this time… In any case, be safe, be prudent, and will be back soon.
